I'm Whit, and I'm the heart and soul behind the woodworking magic here at South & Birch Allow me to take you on a journey through my story, where passion met purpose, and a small woodworking hobby transformed into a lifelong dream.

My love affair with woodworking began over a decade ago, and it has been a remarkable journey of discovery and transformation. Before I embraced the world of chisels, saws, and sandpaper, I was a marketing manager for a large animal supply catalog. While it was a fulfilling job, my heart always longed for something more, something hands-on, and something deeply rooted in creativity.

One day, I traded the desk for a workshop, the spreadsheets for blueprints, and the corporate buzz for the hum of saws. And thus, South & Birch was born. Woodworking became my canvas, and every piece I crafted was a stroke of artistic expression.

While I can create almost anything, my true passion lies in bedroom furniture. There's something inherently personal about the pieces that fill our sleep spaces, and I believe they should not only be functional but also works of art.
